The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs!: Introductiion

The Indiana Festival Theatre’s Family Show

The Studio Theatre at the IU Theatre’s complex* is the home to the Indiana Theatre Festival’s family production of The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs!, a terrific children’s musical by Robert Kauzlaric (book and lyrics) and Paul Gilvary and William Rush (music), based on the multi-million-selling book by Jon Scieszka (words) and Lane Smith (pictures). The cast is comprised of actor/singers from our production of Damn Yankees, who enjoy double-duty as citizens of Piggsylvania.

We opened the show to a sold-out house last Saturday, and it’s been playing to good houses in the small, 60-seat theatre ever since. If you’re interested in attending, tickets are available at the IU Auditorium Box Office for 11 o’clock performances today, Saturday (June 30), and Monday through Saturday next week, excluding July 4 (July 2, 3, 5-7).

The Herald-Times critic Dana Dyer Pierson says the play is “a wonderful way to introduce little ones to the many charms of live theater,” and that the production is “family-friendly in the truest sense in that it plays well to all ages. Yes, Mom and Dad, there’s plenty for you to enjoy, too.”

She’s right on the money.
