Benedick (Grant Goodman) surprises his would-be love Beatrice (Andrea Mellos) with a kiss in the IFT’s MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING.
George Walker, WFIU’s producer and on-air broadcast director, has been reviewing theatre and opera productions in the Bloomington area for many years. He recently posted his review of the IFT’s production of MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, noting that “There’s eloquence, elevated wit, bawdy wit, buffoonery and more than a few prat falls” and that the production is a “very well directed and skillfully acted evening of theatre.” You can read his review here.
Shakespeare’s comedy Much Ado about Nothing will continue in repertory on Sunday evening, July 14. It will be playing with Thornton Wilder’s classic American comedy (and the basis for the musical Hello, Dolly!) The Matchmaker, which opens this Friday at 7:30 p.m.
And don’t forget, this is the last week to see the smart and funny family comedy Arnie the Doughnut, a delight for youngsters and oldsters alike, playing each day through Saturday in the Studio Theatre at 11:00 a.m.
Whew! The Festival Theatre is busy this week!
